Turkey Visa Requirements

Citizens from 90+ countries including Germany, France, Japan, South Korea, and most EU nations can visit Turkey visa-free for 90 days. US, UK, Canadian, Australian, and Indian citizens need an e-Visa. Chinese citizens require a sticker visa from the embassy.

The e-Visa is an electronic authorization obtained at evisa.gov.tr. Apply online, pay $20-60 (varies by nationality), and receive instant approval via email. Valid for 30-90 days depending on your passport. Print or save digitally for travel.

Most e-Visa applications are approved instantly. In some cases, processing may take up to 24-72 hours. Apply at least 48 hours before travel to be safe. The official site is www.evisa.gov.tr.

e-Visa fees vary by nationality: US citizens pay $60 for multiple-entry 90-day visa, UK citizens pay $30, Canadian citizens pay $60, Australian citizens pay $60, Indian citizens pay $60. Some nationalities pay as low as $20.

Turkey has a strong approval rate of approximately 86%. US, UK, and EU applicants see rates above 99%, while Pakistani and Nigerian applicants face higher scrutiny with rates around 60-72%.

Visa-free visitors and most e-Visa holders can stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period. This is a rolling period, so you cannot simply exit and re-enter. Some nationalities have 30-day limits.

Required: valid passport (5+ months validity beyond travel dates), email address, and payment card. Some nationalities need supporting documents like valid Schengen/US/UK visa, hotel reservations, or return tickets.

Turkey no longer offers visa on arrival for most nationalities. Apply for an e-Visa online before travel. Some nationalities that cannot get e-Visa must apply at Turkish embassies for sticker visas.
