Visa Requirements for Ukrainian Citizens

Ukrainian citizens can visit 144 countries visa-free or with visa-on-arrival in 2025. Most notably, Ukrainians have visa-free access to all 29 Schengen Area countries including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Poland for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Other popular visa-free destinations include Turkey (90 days), Georgia (1 year), Moldova (no limit), Israel (90 days), Brazil (90 days), Argentina (90 days), and Malaysia (90 days). UAE offers visa-on-arrival for 30 days.

The US B1/B2 tourist and business visa costs $185 (approximately ₴7,600 UAH) for Ukrainian applicants. This is a non-refundable application fee paid before scheduling your visa interview. Due to the current situation, many Ukrainians apply at US embassies in neighboring countries such as Poland or Germany, as operations at the Kyiv embassy remain limited.

The UK Standard Visitor Visa costs £127 (approximately ₴6,600 UAH) for Ukrainian citizens applying for stays up to 6 months. VFS Global charges an additional service fee of around £55 to £75. Priority processing is available for £500 extra (5 working days) or £1,000 for Super Priority (next working day). Note that separate humanitarian visa schemes may have different fee structures.

Ukrainian passport holders do not need a Schengen visa. Since June 2017, Ukraine has been part of the EU visa liberalization program, allowing Ukrainian citizens with biometric passports to travel visa-free to all 29 Schengen Area countries for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. This applies to tourism, business visits, and family visits, but not for employment.

However, approval rates can vary significantly based on individual circumstances, previous travel history, and strength of ties to Ukraine. Applicants with documented employment, property ownership, and family ties in Ukraine typically see higher approval rates.

Ukrainian citizens do not need a visa for Turkey. Ukrainians can enter Turkey visa-free for stays up to 90 days within a 180-day period. This makes Turkey one of the most accessible and popular destinations for Ukrainian travelers, offering both beach resorts along the Mediterranean and historical sites in Istanbul and beyond.

Ukrainian applicants may face higher rejection rates for visas to the US (approximately 20% to 30% rejection rate), UK (around 15% to 20%), Canada (15% to 25%), and Australia (10% to 15%). Common rejection reasons include insufficient financial documentation, unclear travel purpose, weak ties to home country, and incomplete applications. Providing comprehensive documentation significantly improves approval chances.

To maximize visa approval chances: apply at least 4 to 8 weeks before travel, provide 6 months of bank statements showing consistent income and savings, include tax documents and employment verification letters, show property ownership or rental agreements in Ukraine, document previous international travel history (especially stamps from Schengen countries), provide a detailed day-by-day travel itinerary with confirmed bookings, and ensure all documents are properly translated to English where required.
